God is My Desire

Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:25-26

Taking Echo Ranch Video to the Next Level
 Andrew Bedinger

In the summer 2007 a video revolution was started at Echo Ranch Bible Camp. OK, maybe it wasn’t revolutionary but it would change the way we view camp. It all began with a home video camera and free editing software found on most PCs. Although the first videos were grainy and only available on the last day of camp, it touched a nerve with everyone who saw them. In 2008 a generous donation allowed us to upgrade to a higher quality camera and better editing system. This could take our videos to a whole new level.

The next level requires people with experience and a passion for video. The technology comes as second nature and creativity is allowed to roam free. Andrew Bedinger (pictured right) is one of those people who have answered the call. Andrew is a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, a graduate of Compass Film Academy and is the owner of Vista Pictures a video production company. Andrew heard about Echo Ranch through his former youth pastor. The pastor had been at Huntington University where he ran into the Echo Ranch recruiter.

As a kid Andrew would spend hours at home shooting with the family video camera. Since then Andrew has traveled the world filming in places like Africa and the Philippines. His time spent at Compass Film Academy helped sharpen his creative skills and taught him the business aspect of the film industry. But unlike most of the industry Andrew knows that video can have a Higher purpose. Andrew writes “The way that video has impacted my life is knowing that a video that I worked on or created is being used in a way to reach out to others or to spread awareness.”

The video Andrew shot in Africa went to help create AIDS awareness. Andrew has also done work for local churches and organizations that seek to inspire young people to live godly lives. Andrew is excited about working with Echo Ranch to reach the youth of Southeast Alaska with the message of Jesus Christ. Andrew believes, “Video is one of the most powerful ways to reach the People of today, with the world full of fast pace media and technology we must always be coming up with new and innovative ways to spread the word of God to others.”

Andrew along with the staff of Echo Ranch will begin work on several DVDs that will help promote the camp locally and in the Lower 48. The most exciting project will be the follow-up DVD. This is an opportunity for campers to take home a DVD that explains the message of the gospel clearly and is readily available. For many of the campers going to church is not always an option. A number of Southeast Alaskan churches don’t support a youth program and for the child of an unbelieving household, there is no one to take them.

Follow-up is difficult in a region where ferry boat and small plane travel are the major forms of transportation. This DVD could be answer to many prayers.

Survival is the follow-up DVD that Andrew helped to develop.
