Journey of Desire
My name is Jon-Michael and this is my website. Actually, its a website for anyone who has a desire in their heart for God.
Like a lot of people I grew up in a Christian home. I didn't choose that, it's just where God placed me. I was baptized around 8 but life went on as it does for most kids. God was pushed to the background as events unfolded around me.
Fast foward to the year 2001 when God began a revival in my life. I had allowed myself to get sucked into the system of this world and was chasing after things that did not satisfy. Then at some point like the prodigal son I "came to my senses".
I need God. I need God desperately.
The Bible became everything and I ate it up. For the first time the words of Jesus really made an impact on me. In the spring of 2002, at the age of 19, I went on a missions trip to Juneau, Alaska to council at Echo Ranch Bible Camp. God used that summer to give my faith a serious booster shot. I learned a lot and I learned to love the gospel of Jesus Christ. This would begin what is now an 9 year run with the camp.
Then in the fall of 2003 I joined a small group at a church in MN that was reading John Piper's book Desiring God. John writes, "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him." My desire for joy and happiness is rooted in God. I can be joyful and live for God. And the highest most joyful desire that I could have is for God himself.
Desiring God also explained that God is the most central most important all powerful being that there is. My mind was blown away by this awesome revelation. And the best part is that I can begin to know this God through Jesus Christ and having a relationship with him. (Desiring God is available FREE online)
As God continues to shape and mold me into the image of his Son, my prayer is that my desire for God will grow. I want to share that desire with others. I hope that this website will accomplish 3 things:
1. That those who already desire God will be encouraged to grow in their faith.
2. Those who know about God but really want to relate to him will be given the tools needed.
3. As I grow in my own walk with God I'll be able to share it with others.
My prayer is that together our hearts will say to God
Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you.My flesh and my heart may fail,but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:25-26
